Treasures of Darkness

Treasures of Darkness

“Carry each other’s burdens…” Galatians 6:2

I wanted to do this…I wanted to share;

I looked all around me…no one was there!

How can they abandon th’ mommy in need,

Th’ burdens so heavy, her life they impede!

“My child, they can’t lift e’en a part that you bear;

Their fears of your life do simply impair!

They may want to reach out, but don’t know how;

Th’ soul-muscles-to-bear, to you I’d endow.”

Lord, You’re so right! I spend hours before You;

Folks without pain could not have the same View…

To walk through th’ Valley of th’ Shadow of Death

Won’t work without carrying pray’rs on each breath!

You meet me in grief; my hubby does too…

I am doubly blessed to have each of you,

And then there’s the quiet I sorely need,

Your Word in my hand, to travel godspeed.

(But)…I miss my friends; I miss my sisters too—

But if they can’t “do pain,” more damage they’ll do!

…Then out of the blue…from “Internet sky,”

You send a new sister twittering by…

She has the muscle to help bear the load—

Because, I find out…she’s walked…the same road.

We’ve both lost a daughter t’ evil’s deceit,

Despite our love, e’en with “tough love” complete.

Not a sister by blood, but one…by tears,

She’s cried along with me these last three years.

Unbeknownst t’ each other, a country apart,

You’ve brought us together t’ share from the heart.

Thank You Lord for your Treasures of Darkness,

Granting companionship midst th’ grief’s starkness…

O Lord, may our sharing bring Your healing

As even now, it brings such warm feeling—

But Lord, I have one more question for You…

Did…two friends in Heav’n…pray their moms’d meet too…?!

“I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, who calls you by name.” Isaiah 45:3

Aunt Angie, Thanks for sharing this poem. Oh, how poignant it is! It is so very true that others who haven't gone through our tragedies just cannot share our burden or begin to understand the pain. As well-meaning as they try to be (the ones who actually TRY), it just isn't enough. It's hard for me to not take that personally a lot of the time because, as I'm sure you know, it can come across as insensitivity or just plain apathy. Thank the Lord He is Who He says He is and is there for us every second. Albeit, it sure makes life more bearable to have those alongside us here on earth who truly understand! I hope you have a beautiful day! :) Love you so much, April
